H&N Slug HP .217 Cal., 23 Grains — Product Overview

H&N offers the Slug HP in different diameters and weights to accommodate different barrel profiles and power levels.

Power Requirement
H&N states that the rifle should have at least 25 joules of muzzle energy for the Slug HP range and recommends 40–60 joules for best results.
This means the H&N Slug HP .217 23 Grain should not be treated as a general-purpose .22 pellet for every air rifle. The rifle should be suitable for slugs, and the .217 diameter and 23-grain weight should be appropriate for the individual barrel and setup.
Diameter and Barrel Compatibility
This product is commonly described as a .22-caliber slug, but the specific diameter shown for this version is .217 inch / 5.51 mm.
H&N provides different diameter options, including .217 and .218, as well as different weights.
For this reason, buyers should check the actual slug diameter and their rifle’s barrel characteristics before purchasing.
A rifle being marked .22 or 5.5 mm does not by itself guarantee that every .22 slug will perform in the same way.

What Should You Check Before Buying?
Before ordering, check that your PCP rifle is suitable for shooting slugs and that the .217 diameter and 23-grain weight are appropriate for your rifle and barrel.
If you are changing from conventional pellets to slugs, do not assume that the same rifle settings will automatically produce the same results. Projectile weight, diameter, barrel characteristics and rifle power can affect performance.
